چکیده

In this paper, we present a new algorithm for solving the LQG control problem with variance constraints which utilizes derivative information about the relevant H2 costs to achieve quasi-Newton convergence. Using a lifting procedure, this algorithm is then generalized to work with linear periodically timevarying systems. This algorithm is then applied to the design of controllers for hard disk drives in order to assess the limits of performance of a particular setup. It is demonstrated that just by utilizing multirate sampling and actuation characteristics (i.e. without changing the hardware), the performance of this particular setup can improved by more than 39%.

A class of multi-agent discrete hybrid non linearizable systems: Optimal controller design based on quasi-Newton algorithm for a class of sign-undefinite hessian cost functions

In the present paper, a class of hybrid, nonlinear and non linearizable dynamic systems is considered. The noted dynamic system is generalized to a multi-agent configuration. The interaction of agents is presented based on graph theory and finally, an interaction tensor defines the multi-agent system in leader-follower consensus in order to design a desirable controller for the noted system. A...

A quasi-separation principle and Newton-like scheme for coherent quantum LQG control

This paper is concerned with constructing an optimal controller in the coherent quantum Linear Quadratic Gaussian problem. A coherent quantum controller is itself a quantum system and is required to be physically realizable. The use of coherent control avoids the need for classical measurements, which inherently entail the loss of quantum information. Physical realizability corresponds to the e...

Optimization with the time-dependent Navier-Stokes equations as constraints

In this paper, optimal distributed control of the time-dependent Navier-Stokes equations is considered. The control problem involves the minimization of a measure of the distance between the velocity field and a given target velocity field. A mixed numerical method involving a quasi-Newton algorithm, a novel calculation of the gradients and an inhomogeneous Navier-Stokes solver, to find the opt...

Numerical Computation of Cross-Coupled Algebraic Riccati Equations Related to H∞-Constrained LQG Control Problem

In this paper, the numerical algorithm for solving the state and output feedback H∞-constrained LQG control problem is investigated. Although the equations that have to be solved to design the controller consist of the nonlinear crosscoupled algebraic Riccati equations (CAREs), it is newly proven that both the uniqueness and the positive semidefiniteness of the iterative solutions can be guaran...

Quantum LQG Control with Quantum Mechanical Controllers

Based on a recently developed notion of physical realizability for quantum linear stochastic systems, we formulate a quantum LQG optimal control problem for quantum linear stochastic systems where the controller itself may also be a quantum system and the plant output signal can be fully quantum. This is distinct from previous works on the quantum LQG problem where measurement is performed on t...
